The Luisiana, sailing from Naples, arrived at Ellis Island with
18 year old Rocco Montesano from Accettura-Potenza, Italy aboard on
September 20, 1910. On March 5, 1920, three children arrived at Ellis
Island from the village of Accettura, Italy after departing
Naples, aboard the steam ship Canada; Vito Nicola Montesano, 16, Rocco
Montesano, 14, and Rosa Montesano, 11. See all

Our dad was Frank John Montesano. His parents
were Rocco Montesano and Teresa Sampogna. Maria Loscalzo & Vito Sampogna
were our Grandma Montesano's parents. Grandma's name was Teresa Sampogna,
Tessie. In 1928 Rocco Montesano returned from America and married Teresa in
the village of Accettura, Italy, leaving again for NY shortly thereafter.
Teresa and their thirteen month old daughter Mary did not arrive in New
York until 1930. Tessie and Mary made the trip over in a private room aboard
the Contogranda. Tessie said "After what I heard I knew we could make a good
living on the other side." Continue to page 2
